Data subjects rights

Third-country nationals who apply for international protection, as well as persons arrested in connection with the unlawful crossing of the country whose data are recorded in Eurodac database have the right to be informed in intelligible form, using clear and plain language of the identity of the controller, the purpose, the recipients and the obligation to have their fingerprints taken.

They also have the right of access to data relating to them, and the right to request that inaccurate data relating to them be corrected or that unlawfully processed data relating to them be erased (in the case of persons who have acquired citizenship of any Member State in the period after the lodging of their application for international protection), as well as the right to receive information on the procedures for exercising those rights (see Article 29 of Regulation (EU) No 603/2013).

In addition, they have the right to bring an action before the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (HDPA) or competent judicial authorities in case they are refused the above rights (see Article 29(14) and (15) of Regulation (EU) No 603/2013).
