As part of its mission to inform and raise awareness among data controllers, data processors, and citizens regarding data protection legislation, the Hellenic Data Protection Authority continues the implementation of the European byRisk project (https://byrisk-project.eu/).
The main objective of the project remains to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in effectively identifying and assessing risks associated with the processing of personal data, while also enhancing public awareness and understanding of data protection and privacy issues.
The first newsletter presented the launch of the project, its methodology, and the initial findings of the research on SMEs’ needs concerning data protection risk assessment. The second newsletter focused on the development of the risk taxonomy framework and the design of the risk assessment tool’s framework and core functionalities.
The third newsletter focuses on:
- the progress made in the development of the byRisk tools,
- the awareness-raising strategy designed for different target audiences, and
- the implementation of specialized training seminars taking place throughout 2026.
Within this context, the project has identified four main target groups: SMEs, citizens/consumers, university students, and ICT professionals.
For each target group, tailored information and awareness-raising activities are planned, addressing their specific needs and challenges.
More specifically:
- From March to June 2026, online seminars are being held for the general public and consumers.
- During April and May 2026, activities were implemented for university students.
- In June 2026, specialized seminars will be organized for ICT professionals.
- Finally, in July and September 2026, online seminars specifically designed for SMEs will take place.
